In the 1960's and 70's, in the midst of their high output of utilitarian sport watches, Rolex also made this slightly unusual model only for the U.S. market. It featured one of their perpetual movements in a case that had a classic dress style to it.
As precise as it is classic, the watch is powered by the same well-respected automatic Rolex cal. 1520 mechanism that drove early Submariner models. A superior mechanism, it offers a level of engineering and craftsmanship that is exceptional.
Rolex made this model for the American corporate market so most of the examples of these watches you find are engraved on the back.
This example presents in very pleasing condition. Its untouched original dial is gorgeous mint, and its engine is very clean. Its case presents beautifully with just slight gold wear on the sides of the bezel. The bracelet has fairly mild gold wear on the high points a small indention on one link. On the wrist it presents very nicely. It could also be worn on a leather strap, and it would present as just short of mint.
One of our Master Watchmakers, who used to be the watchmaker for an authorized Rolex dealer and was given special training by Rolex at their Beverly Hills Service Center to be an authorized Rolex watchmaker, has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components with genuine Rolex parts, installing a new mainspring, reassembling and lubricating the movement, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $795 value).
It is running extremely strong and true, keeping time on par with a new Rolex in our testing. For the finishing touch we have meticulously detailed it making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
Included with the purchase is a one-year C.O.T. international warranty on the movement and its function, a full-page custom printed Connoisseur of Time Certificate of Authenticity, and a new timing certificate.
