Case: Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down engraved case back, graduated unidirectional revolving black bezel for the decompression times, Triplock winding crown protected by the crown guard, gas-escape valve at 9, sapphire crystal. Case is in mint condition with sign of wear.
Dial: Black with luminous white gold round, triangular and baton indexes, outer minute/seconds division, aperture for the date. Luminous white gold skeleton hands. Dial is perfect with hands and tritium markers now a light beige but no longer emitting.
Movement: Cal. 3135, rhodium-plated, 27 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions with Microstella timing screws, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, Microstella regulating screws, hack mechanism. Produced for over 40 years, the Sea-Dweller was first designed for deep sea divers at COMEX, and as of 1967 was the first commercially available dive watch to have a helium escape valve. The reference 16600 was introduced to the market in 1978, and has a clean and contemporary look, clearly designed for a specific purpose. Often compared to Rolex's Submariner models, the most noticeable difference between the two models is the lack of magnified cyclops on the crystal above the date window on the Sea-Dweller. The depth rating is another difference - the Sea-Dweller is rated to 4000 feet, which is four times the depth rating of modern Submariners.
Designed for use by divers, the Sea-Dweller 16600 has become a popular choice for many as an every-day watch, as there is no worry about contact with water. With all of the history and innovation that comes with the Sea-Dweller line, the wearer can feel comfortable knowing that this watch is precise, durable, and water-resistant. Production of the Sea-Dweller ended in 2008, and was brought back in 2014 at Baselworld with the reference 116600.
